FAQs for Remote Customer Service Roles

Do you require previous call center experience?

No. Agents will be trained by the companies themselves with or without experience.

Will I be responsible for my own taxes?

Since you will be an independent contractor, you will be responsible for ensuring that your taxes are paid during tax season.

Are there any upfront fees that I should be aware of?

Once you select the company that you want to work for, you are required to pay a background check fee of $25, and $20 to reserve your seat for the first day of group training. 

These fees are an investment into yourself as an independent contractor. Please contact the CRA for information about tax deductions for these fees.

Do you have full time or part-time positions? Is training paid? What about vacations?

You need to work at least 15 hours per week, however after that you get to determine when and how much you work after that.

Training is not paid since you are not a regular employee. Occasionally, some employers have an "earn while you learn program." Training fees are an investment into yourself, and your future as an independent contractor.

You can take vacations whenever you choose. However, if you start working during the work week, you need to work for at least 15 hours.
